To A Friend

Such a fragile, young life taken far, far too soon

Leaving pieces of us lying broken and strewn

We cannot understand why it happens to be

That this life that we have is of no guarantee

But the love that we have, it can never be lost

It’s our deepest possession and it comes at no cost

And this thing we call love, it is never at end

If I could tell you one thing, it would be this, my friend

A shoulder to cry on or a hand just to hold

Or words understood that were not ever told

I will be here for you in the times that you’re gone

This I can promise; that love will live on

So dry up your tears and raise up your head

And trust in the words that have always been said

Forever and always is what love it will be

And forever and always, you will find it in me
