Closer

Closer to the end, of the beginning, of our time

Where every word has meaning,

Every meaning has a rhyme.

You put it all together

Just to see it fall apart.

You don’t know where the trip should end,

But there’s nowhere left to start.

Awakened by the soft, unspoken words of those you love,

A testament to unforgiving failure from above.

Closing up and breaking down,

The only thing that’s left.

When trust is not an option

Because everyone forgets.

Time heals slower than love can break

A heart wide open is a valiant mistake.

With nothing left standing but tears and lies

Every lost moment, a wrinkle in time.

I know I’ve done wrong and I know I lost touch

But how can I lose something meaning so much?

The end is beginning, the door is now closed

The words have no rhythm

The rhymes are all prose.

To love is to live, and to live is to learn

But when will the living part

start to return?
